I’m working on a project for this blog, using my three principal tarot decks in order to facilitate a discussion of the differences in potential readings with regards to the artwork used, and I thought that a couple notes on how I tend to work with them might be useful.
1. The decks that I prefer to work with do not rely on reverse-meanings for cards. If I pull a card and it is reversed/upside-down, I interpret that as a card of special focus or attention being required for it.
2. There is a common rumor that you have to be given your first tarot deck in order for it to be ‘legit’. If that were true, I’d still be waiting. Just saying.
3. I am of the opinion that you have to connect with the artwork before you rely on a guidebook. If you read something different from a card than what the book says, your way is the better one.
